But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light

Thanks...
For this year or semester I would like to give thanks to a few people who helped me out during school. The first people I would like to thank would be my parents for their support throughout the semester even though sometimes it becomes kind of annoying, but still I thank them. The second people on the thank you list would be my close friends who have also helped every time I needed them. The third group of people I would like to thank are my classmates and teachers who have helped me with my work and studies and support my stupidity during the whole year. Most important of all I thank God because he has given me the opportunity for an excellent education, and a chance to go on to college and get a great job. I thank all those who have helped me during the year and throughout my life. I love you all.

Courageous
This movie has a very specific topic that can be seen throughout the movie and it is not something that should be ignored. The main idea of the movie is that fathers, or parents, should do their best, and not just be "a good enough father" as it says in the movie. During part of the presentation some statistics are given that when a father is absent in the life of a child he or she is a lot more likely to drop out of school, use drugs, and to follow the same destructive patterns of his or her father. Does this mean that if every father is present in the life of his child there would be a lot less crime in the world? Yes, that is exactly what it means. Does this mean that when we grow up and have our own children we should cherish every moment we have with them because those moments will mold who they will become? What do you think?

If I had a Time Machine
If I had a time machine I'm not exactly sure what I would do, but one thing comes to mind. I would travel to dates where mayor historical events happened or take a little excursion to witness things like the Sphinx losing its nose, or the tower of Pisa tilting to its side. Unlike the typical person who would want to travel to the time of the dinosaurs I would be so anxious to see Jesus do some of his miracles.I wonder if I could go back in time far enough to see the beginning of the universe? if that was ever possible that would be a milestone in my life. It would be quite a menace if the time machine ran out of energy during one of the trips. Having a time machine would be pretty frolicsome. Too bad time machines don't exist yet. I guess I'll just have to keep traveling in my mind when I try to go to sleep feeling as if I have some sort of insomnia.

Languages
Some of the languages used in the world today are languages derived from Latin, the language used by the Romans. These languages are quite comparable, a few of them are French, Italian, and Portuguese. Each of these have a different version of speech and writing. Yet if one ponders enough one may come to ask why these languages are different even though they come from the same roots. That is because each of them has a milestone which marked drastically their development altering its growth as an individual language. All though for some people some of these languages might seem like oddities they are beautiful languages and they are worth learning.

Values
People say that young people have lost many of the traditional values of the older generation. This does not matter, because the old values have no relevance in the modern world. We need to develop a whole new set of values. In what extent do you agree or disagree?
This is a statement found on the internet belonging to a TOEFL practice test. The first time I perused over this statement I completely disagreed. The values found in society are of non changing character, and they are always present. Those that do not have many of the values of the older generation tend to turn and be invidious, although many believe this to be objective. The values of the older generation are as important now as they were in previous generations, and many accuse modern society for the loss of these important values when in fact this all starts at home. It is very important that the loss of many of the traditional values is mitigated before these values are completely lost.

Step by Step
For those who like to entertain themselves with some sort of culinary art here are the steps to a dessert I learned to make when I was little. The recipe is not an excerpt from any cooking book, it was taught to me. There is no name for the dessert so I can not give you one, simply enjoy the facile to create treat. The ingredients needed are a bar of chocolate, preferably dark chocolate (as much as you want), corn flakes, and some honey. First you must put a pot on the stove to heat up. Then you add the chocolate and stir it around the pot until it is completely melted. Next you add the corn flakes and move them around until they are entirely covered in chocolate. This is when you add the honey but only if desired otherwise you can discard it as an ingredient. When adding the honey one can add the desired amount being conscientious not to add to much. After stirring the contents of the pot to the point where everything is covered in chocolate you can turn down the heat a little, while you recover those paper cups that have been picking up dust in the drawer or you can just use a cookie pan. Pour the contents into the cups or onto the pan and stick it in the freezer. Now all you have to do is wait for a while, probably a couple of hours and then you can take your treat out of the freezer and enjoy it.

Bible: Fiction or Fact?
"The Bible is pure fiction". That is what most people say when they are unaware of the veracity of the book and it is just flippant. Most people tend to elude the subject, but if one allows oneself to be immersed in the subject they will be found in quite a quandary. Archaeologically, there are many discoveries that offer colossal proof of the Bible's truthfulness. Many of these discoveries were found in the Middle East, mostly where Israel is now and where Egypt is. All of these findings prove that the Bible is not fiction, but pure history and pure fact.

Compare and Contrast
Have you ever been grounded and felt like you were in jail? Although it might sound like a bit of an exaggeration there are many logical ways of comparing and contrasting both of them. The first similarity in both is that one is confined in a very rigorous manner to a small room. The difference in this case is that in jail you will be behind bars, but when grounded there is only a door which excludes one from the outside world. Another similarity is that in an arbitrary way the people in charge hamper the few things one can do while suffering for one's deportment. There are a few more similarities and differences between being grounded and being in jail, but they are a bit more drastic.

Cause and Effect
There are many actions in this world that lead to what we know as a cause and effect. This is similar to a domino reaction, but in a minute scale. One effect that is well know is that of noise pollution. This type of contamination is many times caused by the negligence of workers or people who start working on a proyect without the slightest sense of respect towards others. In some cases the immense duration of the contamination is frightful and it gets to the point were it is very irritating.

My encounter with Paul
Stranger: Hi
Me: Hi
Stranger: How are you?
Me: Fine thank you, and you?
Stranger: Fine, thank you. My name is Saul, in Hebrew that is, in Greek people call me Paul. What's your name?
Me: My name is Esteban. Wait... are you Paul from the new testament? The one who wrote all the letters?
Paul: Yes, Yes I am.
Me: Wow! Nice to meet you! I've read all your letters.
Paul: God changed me and inspired me to write those letters, like what I wrote for Timothy saying that all scripture is given by inspiration of God. I used to be very pernicious and detrimental before knowing God.
Me: Wow. I guess you also felt a lot of animosity towards all those Christians, right?
Paul: Yes, yes I did. To many people what I did when I persecuted Christians seemed like a great feat, but to others I was a caitiff.
Me: Wow, and after all that your conversion was something phenomenal!
Paul: You have no idea! I never thought that God could have used me to preach to so many people and in the way that he did.
Me: Yeah, I understand you, God used me in so many ways this summer that it's kind of hard for me to grasp.
Paul: I completely understand you, at first, it was hard for me to grasp as well, and it still is, but the closer you get to God the more you will see his influence in your life and you won't want to brake that awesome relationship.
Me: Wow, that makes me want to keep reading the Bible so that my relationship with God can get better and better. Thank you Paul.
Paul: No problem.
Me: I have to go, I have to get home, thanks for everything!

Different Times
If I could live in another time I would like to live in Medieval times. Why exactly I would like to live in those times I'm not quite sure, I just know that is what I would pick if I was given a choice. Back then every thing was new, many discoveries were being made and the people were not so addicted to technology because it was not so advanced back then. People in general were very different in the Medieval times, today a lot of people are self-centered, very superficial, and many people are bitter, back then people were not like this, although some were, but there were more people conscious of the needs of others, there were not so many superficial people as there are now, and not so many people were bitter, maybe distasteful but not bitter. This is one reason I would if I could chose another time I would pick the Medieval times other than the cool sword fights and dangerous battles of course.

Favorite Song
The name of my favorite song is "Just Wanna Say"written by Israel Houghton. It is a Christian song, and the topic of the song is quite specific already. The topic or main topic of this song is that God is always with us, and that he protects us. Another topic or subtopic of the song are the promises God makes to his people.
The song says "You told me you would always hold me safe in the palm of your hand". This is one of the verses in which the main topic is presented, saying that God always keeps us safe. Another example of this is the verse that says "Even though I go through the valley of the shadow I'm not forgotten". A verse in which the subtopic of the song is presented is "Said you'd never leave me/ Said you won't forsake me". Although the word "promise" is never used in the verse the meaning is still implied within the song. Both topics are constantly implied within the song uses the verses that were mentioned and others like them.

I once read an essay written by a teacher who gave his students the asignment of writing what their life would be like if they were the opposite sex. How would life be like if we were the opposite sex? Going from sports to talking for hours, getting dressed in 5 minutes to getting dressed in 30 minutes, and from doing one thing at a time to multitasking with hundreds of tasks doesn't really sound entertaining. From a man's perspective this doesn't seem fun at all, but let's find out what it's like.

Brainstorm: How much power does the media have on us?
Media and it's power
-influences
-products
-persuasion
-pressure
-desires
-makes you want more
-makes you feel the need to have
the media has power over us because it analizes our desires and finds the way to persuade us to want more and to think we need more, and it influences us in our daily life.

A little bit about me
To say a little bit about myself, I'm not from Puerto Rico, I'm from Brazil but I still am Puertorican on my mother's side. My hobbies are playing soccer, being with my friends, reading, messing around, and I think that's about it. This year I started my senior year in my school, and it's the fourth year I'm in the same school and well, it's a lot of work. I have no idea what to expect about this school year so I guess I'll just work as hard as I can to come out the best as I can. I'm just hoping that this year all goes well, and that it passes by quickly. By the way, welcome to my blog.
